Overview

The Advanced Seminar is being organised by the University of Maastricht in cooperation with Lexxion Publisher as a part of the project of the Directorate-General for Competition “Training of national judges and judicial cooperation in the field of EU competition law” and is co-funded by the European Union.

The two-day Advanced Seminar focuses on the following topics:

EU Damages Directive - Part 1
  • Status of implementation of the Directive
  • Private law aspects
  • Comparative tutorial
  • Judicial cooperation, Brussels Regulation, cooperation mechanisms
  • Competition law liability of parent companies and its impact on civil law liability
EU Damages Directive - Part 2
  • Access to evidence - Comparative lecture and tutorial
EU Damages Directive - Part 3
  • Economics and markets
  • Economic principles of competition law
  • Calculation of damages

Methodology

The participants will be actively involved in the seminar.
The sessions will combine presentations, tutorial sessions and discussion on practical problems. You will have ample opportunities to present your own problematic issues and discuss them with the speakers and participants from other Member States.

Just send us your cases and questions in advance! We will forward them to our speakers, who will include your issues in the programme and answer them during the training. All information concerning such problems and cases will be treated confidentially.

Who should participate?

The Seminar is free of charge for national judges from all EU Member States.
